Hardwood Flooring And The Environment

Our Hardwood Flooring And The Environment

When you stop and think about it, there are many elements that go into the creation of hardwood flooring. European Flooring chooses to offer flooring that optimizes nature and supports the environment, as demonstrated by the information below.

  1. All of our engineered hardwood collections are PEFC (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification) and/or FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)
  2. European Flooring offers only engineered hardwood, meaning we only use rare and precious hardwood for the surface layer. The supporting layers are made using Nordic Pine or Baltic Birch for structural stability. Using valuable wood for only the top layer allows engineered hardwood to cover up to five times the area of solid wood, while still delivering the luxury and elegance of this natural resource.
  3. Our flooring collections offer many different product finishes including natural and pigmented oils. All of these finishes are VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) free. A VOC free finish means that your engineered hardwood floor will not produce solvents or other compounds that evaporate into the air and contribute to the formation of an unclean and unhealthy environment.

It is important to look into the values and practices of companies you are considering for your hardwood flooring purchase. European Flooring is committed to sustainable practices and materials, which means you can feel good about environmental responsibility when choosing one of our floors, in addition to getting beautiful hardwood floors that will add value to your home for years to come. Our flooring collections are carefully engineered and produced for the North American climate, making them among the most dimensionally and structurally stable wood floors on the market.
