Toronto

Challenge

The customer wanted to update the look on the main floor of their home located in an upscale downtown Toronto neighborhood. They wanted a floor that was modern and would complement their chic new kitchen. The customer wanted to use a wider plank floor but liked the custom look of a square edge profile floor. They also wanted to use a lighter tone decor to make the space brighter and more inviting. The second challenge involved fixing a very old and uneven sub-floor prior to being able to install the new wood flooring.

Solution

The customer selected the Terra Collection Bianco Latte wood flooring in the 180mm (7″) size. The Bianco Latte floor embodies the clean lines and lighter tone common in modern Scandinavian design. The floor has a natural matte oil finish which complements the 2 tone kitchen with brushed metal handles, accents and kick plates. To resolve the issue of the sub-floor, we were able to level the existing plywood sub-floor with a combination of new plywood and self-leveling compound. This provided a relatively flat and stable surface for the new wood floor and kitchen cabinetry.
