This project was a small home (1320 sq. ft.) renovation. The home had pink ceramic tile in the kitchen, foyer and hall, and old wall to wall carpet everywhere else. The renovation involved creating an open concept by taking down a wall to created one large living, dining and kitchen area. The new floor would need to unify the main floor. The house is in the country and looks out to fields of horses. Therefore, “Rustic” was the order of the day. Driving the design aesthetic was a key feature of the home – the Douglas Fir windows. They are everywhere in the house and frame the view to the outside. The floor had to work with them.

The customer chose the Atelier Collection Nantes in the wonderful Rustic character with its knots and wide planks. While it is a “match” in colour to the windows, it enhances them and elevates the overall effect by adding depth of colour, tone, grain and character. That’s a lot of work for one little floor!
